Faster, Cheaper, Better….

1065 Hohlfelder in Glencoe

Wow.  That’s all I had to say after watching the latest custom modular home assembled (in one day) on the North Shore of Chicago.  I was a firm supporter of the concept prior to this experience, but this really sealed the deal for me.  If you’re thinking about building a house and aren’t familiar with modular you owe it to yourself to get acquinted, especially if your plan is to tear down your current residence to do it.

According to my local builders and national sources, costs can be cut up to 25%, constrution time reduced to 3-6 months (almost all dedicated to finishing), and the construction is superior.

The  consumate TV Home Builder, Bob Vila, even kicked off his latest season of Home Again focusing on these marvels, and in the process introduced me to an even more facinating system, the prefabricated foundation.  You can watch these episodes here, http://www.bobvila.com/BVTV/HomeAgain/All_Project_Videos-1414.html.  He walks you through the entire construciton process with decent coverage.
